Just finished 2019, a super year for Optimist Class and for
Atlantis Academy that give us strenght and push us to new goals.
Marco Gradoni with his new record of 3 world championship winning and winner of
the World Sailor of the Year push to the top the level of this beautiful Class.
Our head coach Simone Ricci with Jonas de la Cruz, will train all sailors with
the same method he used these years with Marco and his strong athletes, trying
to inspire them and their coaches… yes coaches joined our clinics with their
athletes and we are happy to share with them!
We have just finish the 3rd Clinic of the season in Gran Canaria and we are very satisfied of how many good sailors and young sailors joined our activities trying to learn and have fun at the same time. The race AECIO TROPHY has been completed with all 9 races scheduled and it has been so beautiful to assist to the fight until the last race for the gold medal between 6 sailors. At the end the local Jayme Ayarza (3rd at the World) win followed by two of his team mate but the European Champion Girl Federica Contardi was very close to win the overall event, followed by 2 very strong Italian Sailors.
Canary Islands are effectively a very perfect place to train and race cause of the weather conditions. All days scheduled till now have been sailed. Hours of sailing that are important for the winter prep.
Only in the last Clinic of 5 days training and 3 racing the guys sailed 40 hours, more theory lessons with videos.
New exercises, intensity, materials to test, ideas, exchange of opinions and new friends are at the base of the winning process we are trying to teach during our trainings. We look forward to the firsts Spanish Events like Torrevieja and Palamos before to start with other 2 trainings in Lanzarote from 18 until 29 of February.
We are happy to know that so many sailors are coming to prepare with us before to move to Garda for the World Championship training and event.
Who will be the next World Champion?? So many countries are pushing to achieve this goal and we really love the passion and the hard work these young athletes do to achieve their dream.
