Two wonderful weeks in Lanzarote

Here we are… just finished the 2 clinics in Lanzarote from 18 until 29 of February. More than 30 different kids join our trainings in this fantastic island. First of all we want to thank and congratulate to all of them for their behaviour and the passion and effort they put everyday in water and ashore. Lot of respect, friendship and smiles made the perfect ambient to develop an high level and quality clinic. Thanks to parents because without you your kids were not there to play the most beautiful sport in the world with the best coaches. Thanks to all people who got involved in the organization helping coaches, kids and parents!

On 10 scheduled days of training we had the possibility to go in water 9 times with never less than 12 knots. On 2 days of race scheduled we miss one but we did 4 incredible races with wind and waves! Perfection doesn’t exist and we took 2 days of sandstorm from Sahara, the biggest of lasts 20 years…something is changing and we must learn to respect and love what we have.  Temperature was always perfect around 20 24 degrees and this make sailing a real pleasure. We work and discussed upon many things of sailing, technique, strategy and tactic, trim, rules, mentality, feelings, intensity, priorities, risk management and so on…we hope to have stimolate and add something new to all of these sailors!

We suggest to always play another sport or physical preparation because to be strong, resistant and health will make you take more clear decisions and will make you sail faster! Sailing has been great and we are so excited about these days! Our congrats also to their respective coaches at their clubs because these kids are well prepared and focus!

Now it’s time to work on lasts things and arrive prepared for trials in your countries. We wish and suggest to sail and race always having fun and at the same time with consistency… let’s dream! We hope to see you all at Worlds and European but if not we hope you will work hard again always because sailors are made to never give up! Get ready for next activities this summer in Canary Islands, Rome and Garda! And don’t forget that winter in Canary Islands doesn’t exist so from October we hope to have you all again sailing in the ocean!

We are ready for a new year of goals!

Just finished 2019, a super year for Optimist Class and for Atlantis Academy that give us strenght and push us to new goals.
Marco Gradoni with his new record of 3 world championship winning and winner of the World Sailor of the Year push to the top the  level of this beautiful Class.
Our head coach Simone Ricci with Jonas de la Cruz, will train all sailors with the same method he used these years with Marco and his strong athletes, trying to inspire them and their coaches… yes coaches joined our clinics with their athletes and we are happy to share with them!

We have just finish the 3rd Clinic of the season in Gran Canaria and we are very satisfied of how many good sailors and young sailors joined our activities trying to learn and have fun at the same time. The race AECIO TROPHY  has been completed with all 9 races scheduled and it has been so beautiful to assist to the fight until the last race for the gold medal between 6 sailors. At the end the local Jayme Ayarza (3rd at the World) win followed by two of his team mate but the European Champion Girl Federica Contardi was very close to win the overall event, followed by 2 very strong Italian Sailors.

Canary Islands are effectively a very perfect place to train and race cause of the weather conditions. All days scheduled till now have been sailed. Hours of sailing that are important for the winter prep.

Only in the last Clinic of  5 days training and 3 racing the guys sailed 40 hours, more theory lessons with videos.
New exercises, intensity, materials to test, ideas, exchange of opinions and new friends are at the base of the winning process we are trying to teach during our trainings. We look forward to the firsts Spanish Events like Torrevieja and Palamos before to start with other 2 trainings in Lanzarote from 18 until 29 of February.

We are happy to know that so many sailors are coming to prepare with us before to move to Garda for the World Championship training and event.

Who will be the next World Champion?? So many countries are pushing to achieve this goal and we really love the passion and the hard work these young athletes do to achieve their dream.

La Graciosa, a paradise for training

During the month of July we have held a days of optimist technical clinic with sailors from Baleares Islands, Andalusia and the Canary Islands on the wonderful Island of La Graciosa.

It has been seven days with excellent conditions for navigation where children have not only enjoyed a technical days given by the coaches Ramón Aixemeno and Jonás de De LaCruz, but they have also been able to enjoy the framework unmatched that this eighth island provides its visitors. We thank the parents for the trust they have placed in us and Líneas Romero the invaluable help they make for the benefit of the island and this beautiful sport. We sincerely hope that these days, here in La Graciosa, will become a topic everyyear, because we believe that in few places on the planet we can combine the wind and landscape conditions that we have here.

OptiWorlds, we are there!
